Default Curses Elite (Yes another what's the best skill topic)

So I just read through the Awaken Blood thread, (I'm really starting to enjoy these discussions) and it's got me thinking, if you plan not to use SS (or SV for that case) , what's another good curse elite?

[Plague Signet]
+ works great with conditions, and [epidemic]
+ Signet and 1 cast 4 recharge
+ Works well with [foul feast] and a [martyr] monk. (or even [cautry signet])
- No conditions, no use.
- doesn't work against enemies with strong condition removal.
- not that much damage over time.

[FoC]
+ Great AoE Damage + Life steal
- foes must be hexed so you usually need [Suffering]
- long recharge and 15e

[Corrupt Enchantment]
+ Enchantment removal
+ Easy 8 degen
+ only 5e and 10 sec recharge
- only lasts 10 sec and can be stripped
- enemy must be enchanted

[signet of Suffering]
+ Signet
+ At 16 curses, only 4 hexes are needed for 140 damage
- long recharge
- hard to use effectively

[lingering curse]
+ -33% Healing to enemies and 3 degen
+ 5e 1c 10recharge
- not that usefull in pve

[pain of disenchantment]
+ Good aoe damage and enchantment removal
-enemy must be enchanted

( I did miss a few, but that's because I rarely see them. Wither and Depravity are more for PvP too.)

What are your guys opinions? In my mind I usually go with Corrupt Enchantment or PoD, because of their dual effects. If I wanted a more spike spell I'd just use [Toxic Chill].

the best elite for a curses necro is [assassin's promise]

feast of corruption can be fun with 1 or 2 necro's of mesmer's with a lot of hexes.

lingering curse, spammable aoe degen with reduction to healing and forces monk to be overtly concerned with hex removal

If I am playing a cursing necro - it has to be AP.
I don't remember the last time I ran a cursing hero though. Probably the closest to it was a Discord guy with some curses.

most curse elites are pvp based...and i'm going to assume this is a pve thread.

[spiteful spirit] is really the only viable pve elite.

[plague sending] > [plague signet]
[rip enchantment] > [corrupt enchantment], [pain of disenchantment], [order of apostasy]
[necrosis] > [feast of corruption], [signet of suffering]

all the degen elites = useless in pve

When I play Curses, I run a standard AP/MoP type bar.

If I run that with the triple necro setup, I find that SS is pretty useless. I'm calling every target, and the called targets don't last long at all. In this setup, I stick [lingering curse] on my Curses hero instead of SS. The degen is negligible, but the AoE healing reduction and cover hex are worth it, in my opinion.

[Assassin's Promise]?
Just because it isn't a curses elite, doesn't mean it's not awsome on a curses bar.

SS means that the foes needs to be doing something you don't want them doing.
Good players will just kill them before said foes can do said things.

The problem is that everything else is so shitty that people resort to SS. Just because they want to belong and do things that other classes do better. (Let's leave AP out of this. AP is broken beyond broken and it enables things that shouldn't be possible in this game.)

Seriously, I am still hoping they'll give us an elite which will be a mix of [Shadow Of Fear] and [Enfeebling Blood].

[weaken knees] good for jq and the arenas, quick recharge and very good degen pressure

SS+Reckless+SS is FTW. I haven't seen an AI healer that can outheal this. Especially when you're not worried about his melee/ranger pals (the Reckless bit) and have time to beat on him.

Now I know you and some others are going to say "OMFG REACTIVE HEXING SUCKS", but I chalk that up to the old "I wanna be cool on Guru". All my experiences in PvE tell me you can almost forget about a mob of warriors or rangers when you slapped Reckless+SS on 'em. Even more so in HM.

I've been running around with my ranger lately, using a flatbow and if you use the terrain nicely - one is able to score the first kill before the foes reach your aggro bubble.
Otherwise - you should be able to kill one or two guys before they even reach you.
They just die - and they didn't need to do anything bad to you.

(And the skill that is FTW in your combo is Reckless. Or SoF. SS is just a tiny bonus.)

If I couldn't use Assassin's Promise I'd use Soul Bind.

In fact, whenever I'm forced into another secondary than /A as a Curses necromancer, I bring Soul Bind if no attractive secondaries exist.

On a side note, if Barbs had a 1 second casting time it would be a better elite than Spiteful Spirit. Actually, if we just made Barbs elite and kept the 2 second casting time it would still be stronger than Spiteful Spirit.

I see your point. But it's not like we can stop foes from attacking. Sure some skills will blind them, make it longer for them to cast, but they will still attack you.

Reckless doesn't do anything in Hard Mode except for slap on the defensive bonus.

If you haven't seen it being outhealed, have you ever played areas with healers or are you talking areas that are so much of a joke you don't even need to have a keyboard?

I think you seriously underestimate the speed with which kills can be scored.
It's not going to be worth waiting for foes to kill themselves.
